Lawyer Franz Peter Altemeier becomes the new head of law at the DDV

Lawyer Franz Peter Altemeier, 43, succeeds Hans-Jürgen Schäfer, who is retiring after 30 years with the DDV, as head of law and deputy managing director of the association. Altemeier will take up his duties on September 1, 2022 in the Berlin office of the DDV. He has extensive association experience, including as managing director of the German Lawyers’ Association, and most recently worked for the FDP parliamentary group.

“We would like to thank Hans-Jürgen Schäfer for his decades of excellent work. At the general meeting, the executive committee recognized his special commitment by awarding an honorary membership to an employee of the association for the first time. With Franz Peter Altemeier, the DDV was able to gain an extremely competent successor who will continue to support our members with the high level of legal expertise and strategic competence they are familiar with. We warmly welcome him to the DDV team and wish him a good start in his new tasks,” says DDV President Patrick Tapp.
