Johnny Depp’s lawsuit against the British boulevard magazine The Sun. has been delayed due to the situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus, more commonly known as the coronavirus, reports The Guardian Friday. The case is supposed to be in London on Monday, but the actor is in social abstinence in France and his lawyers are also unable to move freely because of the virus.
Depp filed a lawsuit The Sun. because the medium was heading with the text: “Depp: a wife beaterWith this, the boulevard newspaper addressed the allegations that Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard had made against the 55-year-old actor.
In a previous hearing in the case, it was announced that Depp had sent text messages to a friend in 2013 suggesting he wanted to “burn” and “drown” Heard. In early February, it was announced that Heard had beaten Depp.
The Sun. is said to defend herself with the argument “that the article is not defamatory because it is true”. The boulevard newspaper would like to include the text messages as evidence of a violent relationship.
