Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov considers summit on de-occupation of Crimea “Crimean platform”, which was attended by more than 40 delegations from around the world, “fake politics.”

At the same time, President Vladimir Zelensky invited the leadership of the Russian Federation to join the meeting – “at the last summit in Yalta before the return of Crimea.” That’s just the Russian Foreign Ministry refused the offer because of the “cynical anti-Russian orientation”.

Occupation of Crimea by Russia
Russia occupied Ukrainian Crimea, bringing its troops to the peninsula and organizing a pseudo-referendum on its self-determination in March 2014. The self-proclaimed Crimean government said that 96.77% of the peninsula’s residents were in favor of the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation.
On March 18, 2014, the so-called “agreement” on the admission of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation was signed in the Kremlin.
Western countries did not recognize the annexation of Crimea and imposed sanctions against Russia.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially announced the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea on February 20, 2014. Since the beginning of the occupation on the peninsula, more than 100 Ukrainians have become “prisoners of the Kremlin.”
