At 17 years and 308 days, he is only preceded in the Spanish selection by Angel Zubieta who was only 17 years and 284 days old during his first match in 1936. A whole different era.
A phenomenon of precocity
Fati could even erase Errazquin and his hat-trick against Switzerland in Bern on June 1, 1925 at 18 years and 344 days, to become the youngest scorer in the history of Roja on Sunday against Ukraine for the second day of the League of Nations. For his first appearance in the Spain A team jersey, Fati replaced veteran Jesus Navas (34) after the break to become the 800th player to wear the red jersey in an official match.
On August 31, 2019, he had already become Barça’s youngest goalscorer in La Liga, at 16, 10 months and 4 days. Then on December 10, the youngest scorer in the history of the Champions League against Inter Milan (2-1). Born in Guinea-Bissau and arrived on Spanish soil at the age of seven, Fati obtained Spanish nationality in September 2019, then played three games with the Spanish Under-21 team.
