Latvian Voices Announces Digital A Cappella Festival Program with New Song – Music

This year, for the fifth time, the “Latvian Voices a cappella festival” will take place, but, adapting to the current conditions, it will take place in digital form for the first time. The festival is planned free of charge on June 18 and 19.

The hedliners of this year’s a capella festival are the Finnish vocal group Rajaton, which has performed in more than 25 countries and sold more than 100,000 copies of albums. “Rajaton” will perform a special performance on the festival’s YouTube and Facebook channels on June 18, while on the evening of June 19, the vocal group “The Garden”, “Latvian Voices” and Jānis Strazdiņš will perform live from Valmiera.

As usual, the tradition of the festival’s education and master classes will be continued. On June 18 and 19, ten different master classes on the topic of “a cappella” will take place online throughout the day, from getting to know the voice as an instrument, to learning bitboxing techniques and recommendations in international concert tour management. They will be led by Latvian Voices members and Jānis Strazdiņš, as well as experienced foreign lecturers – Jussi Chydenius from the Finnish group Rajaton, beat boxing artist Daniel Barke from Germany and Christian Hacker from Hacker Music Management in Germany.

In this anniversary festival release, it is also planned to introduce a new tradition – a series of programs “A cappella talks”, which will be published in the group’s social accounts every Thursday in June before the opening of the festival. In addition, the group “Latvian Voices” will give listeners a new song and video “Vaivari vai nevari”. It is a song created by Laura Jēkabsone, which was made longing for the usual concert trips of “Latvian Voices” and also simply as a heartfelt joke. Beāte Krūmiņa, a member of the group, says: “The song is a game of various Latvian place names, which encouraged us to visit these places – from Pape to Ludza, also getting to know the pearls of Latvia that have not been discovered yet. One listen is definitely not enough to hear everything encoded. We wish everyone to accept the challenge “” Can or can’t “travel around Latvia?” and we really hope to see all these places in concerts soon. ”
