“Latvian President Andris Levits: Financial Declaration and Warning for Election Implications”

“No one has a clear majority. In such a situation, there is a real possibility that the decisive votes in the election of the President would be given to parties that do not represent Latvia’s Latvian and Western course. In financial instruments, the President has invested less than a million euros – 529,854 euros he has invested in six investment funds, while other investments are indicated in the value of 439,678 euros.

The President owns two apartments in Riga, an apartment in Cēsis, two plots of land in Mārupe parish and land in Engure parish. On the other hand, Levits owns land in Riga in joint ownership. The declaration also indicates other immovable properties that have not been deciphered. The first official of the state owns such in Engures parish, and in joint ownership – in Riga and Smārde parishes.

Last year’s declaration states that Levits received 75,120 euros as a salary from VPK. He has declared a pension from the European Court of Justice in the amount of 191,600 euros, a pension from the State Social Insurance Agency (VSAA) in the amount of 1,690 euros, a pension from the German insurance company “Allianz Lebensversicherung-AG” in 1,669 euros, as well as a pension from the German pension insurance company “Deutche Rentenversicherung” worth 13,117 euros.
