Latvian films of any length can be submitted for the award, including feature films, documentaries and animated films, as well as co-production films completed after January 1, 2022 and not participating in the 2022 award. Latvian students studying audiovisual arts in Latvian or foreign universities can submit their films to the student film competition. The submitted films will be evaluated and nominees will be nominated by experts representing professional organizations of the film industry, nominees will be announced by January 10, 2024. The laureates of the year will be determined by an independent international jury.
Kristapa the Great events will take place in February 2024, when the awards will be presented at a ceremony in film categories including Best Feature Film, Best Short Feature Film, Best Feature Documentary Film, Best Documentary Short Film, Best Animated Film, Best Series, Best Debut Film and Best Student Film , as well as in 17 professional categories and the audience award. As every year, LKS will present an award for lifetime contribution to film art.
National Cinema Award Great Kristaps organized by the association Latvian Cinematographers Union in cooperation with the National Cinema Center and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
