Latvian defenseman Āriks Ševčenko ended his hockey career by becoming the director of the Daugavpils Ice Sports School. says “Daugavpils.lv” portal.
For 31 years, Sevchenko represented the Polish championship team “JKH GKS Jastrzebie” since November 2020. This season, he collected 11 (3+8) points in 39 games of the main tournament, and one point in seven “play-off” matches. goals and one assist.
During his career, the defenseman born in Daugavpils has represented the Latvian ice hockey club Riga “Dinamo”. and “Liepājas Metalurgs”. Shevchenko also once played in Poland, Norway, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, the USA, as well as 32 matches for the Latvian national team.
Shevchenko also gained experience working as a sports consultant and as a coach in Latvia, China, Russia and Poland, and he also graduated from Daugavpils University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Education with the qualification of sports and social studies teacher, as well as a master’s degree in Teacher Education and Educational Sciences.
