Latvian biathletes are overtaken for a lap in the mixed relay of the World Cup – Winter Sports

The victory was won by the Norwegian Quartet, which consisted of Sievert Baken, Vetle Schostad Kristiansen, Tiril Ekhof and Ingrid Lanmark Tandrevoll. The Norwegians took the lead on the way to the first relay and were ahead of the next race.

After Tandrevolla’s finish for the Norwegian team, the stopwatch stopped at one hour 19 minutes and 39.3 seconds. Sweden’s Elvira Eberga finished 22.5 seconds later, while France’s Justin Bryse-Bush was another 12.1 seconds behind.

All teams in the top six avoided penalty laps. Norway used seven spare cartridges, Sweden eight and France six.

The first stage for Latvia was performed by Rūdis Balodis, who used three spare cartridges to help close all the targets and handed over the relay to Moldova as the 19th. Alexander Patriuk needed four additional cartridges, but without penalty, Latvia managed to rise higher. Annie Kate Sabule lost her position to a Moldovan athlete in the distance and used three additional cartridges in the first line of fire. During the next shooting, she was overtaken for a lap, so Sanita Buliņa did not go on the track.

Later on Sunday there will be a mixed relay for couples, in which Baiba Bendika and Renārs Birkentāls are expected to represent Latvia.

The biathlon World Cup on the Otepää track is taking place in Estonia for the first time. The season will traditionally end in Oslo.
