Update 08:49 – Defense wants to take over personnel from KLM and IHC
Defense is in consultation with KLM and Royal IHC, among others, to take over surplus personnel. The armed forces have been struggling with a great shortage of personnel for years. There are more than 9,000 vacancies.

Update 07:38 – ‘Corona test kit producer avoided taxes for millions’
Corona test kit manufacturer Qiagen has avoided millions of euros in tax since 2010 thanks to constructions in Ireland, Luxembourg and Malta. In the meantime, the biotech giant, with its paper headquarters in Venlo, has received large-scale public funding. This is reported by the Research Foundation for Multinational Enterprises (SOMO) after investigation.
SOMO examined the company’s annual accounts, which would show how the company avoids tax on profits. “The company has set up a network of letterbox companies in European tax havens Ireland, Luxembourg and Malta in order to avoid tax through internal loans.”
The researchers estimate that Qiagen has evaded $ 93 million in tax since 2010 and accrued a tax deduction of $ 49 million. SOMO indicates that this is a conservative estimate, because not all potential avoidance structures have been investigated.

Deputy Prime Minister Kajsa Ollongren will give that press conference this Friday, because Rutte is in Brussels for an extra EU summit. She also heads the Council of Ministers this week.
