Late Drama in Karlsruhe: HSV Concedes Equalizer in Madness-Filled Match

Madness in Karlsruhe! In the 60th minute, HSV was still behind in the second division conference on Sunday – just five minutes later, the Hanseatic League turned the game around and greeted them from the top of the table until the 95th minute – then the HSV madness struck again.

Laszlo Benes equalized with a direct free kick goal in the 61st minute, before Robert Glatzel became the supposed match winner of the team around coach Tim Walter in the 65th minute. In the fifth minute of added time, however, Budu Zivzivadze made it 2-2 and turned the Karlsruhe wildlife park into a real madhouse.

As if it were a good custom in the Hanseatic city, the eleven let themselves be duped late – and still go into the new season with four points from two games. “I’m dissatisfied with the result. We didn’t have the necessary consistency at the end. Then the bag is closed, done,” Walter had to admit.

Robert Glatzel was also dismayed: “Shit action at the end. The referee almost never whistles anymore.”

KSC coach Christian Eichner, on the other hand, was happy at Sky about the late equalizer in the first competitive game in the new stadium: “We saw a fantastic football game! Because of the performance, I mourn two points, but HSV should have scored the third goal.”

HSV conceded late compensation

Even before the start of the game, HSV coach Walter appealed to the Sky microphone for his team’s stamina: “Have a good team spirit!”

The Badeners from Karlsruhe, who dominated in the first half, took the lead in front of 24,950 spectators in the sold-out arena through Fabian Schleusener (14th). Benes and Glatzel did not undeservedly turn the game in favor of coach Tim Walter’s team.

In the final phase, however, the hosts increased their offensive efforts. HSV goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandez initially prevented his team from equalizing with a brilliant save in the 76th minute after a long-range shot by Marvin Wanitzek.

The team followed their coach’s motto and fought self-sacrificingly against KSC’s late offensive efforts. But then Zivzivadze met – a bitter damper for the Hamburgers.

Last minute penalty in Nuremberg

In Nuremberg there was already a lot of trouble about a fan choreo before the kick-off.

The game was almost decided by two early Hanover penalties in favor of Lower Saxony. Former Nürnberger Cedric Teuchert had put the club, which had lost the first game of the season 0-2 at Hansa Rostock, early behind.

After Louis Schaub only hit the post from a few meters instead of into the empty Nuremberg goal (53rd) and missed the Hanoverian preliminary decision, the club got into the game better and better. The 17-year-old Can Yilmaz Uzun, raised from the U19, promptly scored his first professional goal.

And referee Patrick Alt pointed to the point again after a VAR check in the 90th minute! The 17-year-old started with a good portion of self-confidence, had the game on his feet – and he converted. With his second goal of the afternoon, Uzun made club history.

Braunschweig in the table cellar

Braunschweig, meanwhile, messed up the start of the season, lost 2-1 to FC Magdeburg and, after two defeats on the first two matchdays, found themselves in 17th place in the 2nd division.

At the beginning, both teams felt the uncertainty after the botched start of the season, it was initially purely about minimizing mistakes. Magdeburg then increased the risk as the first team. Leon Bell Bell missed a few centimeters from a distance (19′) before Schuler chipped in after a dream pass from Atik.

Amara Conde (32nd) set the course for Magdeburg before the break in front of 28,350 fans, also after assisting Atik. Braunschweig did not take place offensively at all.

Jens Härtel made two changes at the break – but initially things didn’t improve much. Eintracht now had more of the ball, but acted without pace or ideas. Magdeburg managed cleverly and occasionally set dangerous counterattacks. Ujah could only shorten.
