ELA requests more measures from the Bilbao City Council after 11 confirmed cases

The ELA union has described the management of the Bilbao City Council in the coronavirus crisis as “chaotic” and has asked it to adopt additional measures, after the appearance in the Consistory of “11 confirmed cases, 22 awaiting results and a a good number more with symptoms but without testing. “

In a note, ELA urges the mayor, Juan Mari Aburto, to “take charge of this situation now” and “take the appropriate measures” that “prevent the chain” of contagions in municipal offices.

He stressed that the increase in positive cases of coronavirus in the City Council means “more workers in quarantine, and again improvisation of the decisions that have to be made in the areas and with the affected colleagues.”

ELA has asked the City Council to “keep essential services in each area to a minimum” and to “close all municipal offices to the public,” including the cemetery, where “family and citizen access is still allowed.”

He has also requested that rapid tests be carried out on all workers who show symptoms or who have been in contact or working with colleagues who have tested positive, something that, in his opinion, would be “essential for groups such as the Municipal Police, Fire or Ambulance “.

ELA also demands that the Prevention Service be strengthened, where according to this union there is only one technician operating, and that PPE be provided to all those who need it.
