An unusual expulsion marked the 2-2 draw between Lanús and Vélez Sarsfield for the ninth round of the first division of the Argentine Championship, last Wednesday.
In the 18th minute of the second half, the Lanús striker Mateo Sanabria was sent off after touching the private parts of side Francisco Ortega. On the field, the referee gave the yellow card to the Vélez player, who pushed his rival after the event.

However, the referee was called by VAR to analyze the play on the monitor and finally expel the striker for the unusual situation. Lanús players strongly disagreed with the decision.

The expulsion happened when the game was 1 to 1. Vélez still managed to score the second goal in the 25th minute, but suffered a draw four minutes later. With the result, Lanús and Vélez follow in 27th and 26th in the table, respectively.
