The revival of the once famous Italian brand Lancia, which now sells a single model – manufactured by Ypsilon for many years – in a single, Italian market has been talked about for a long time. However, the head of the brand, Luca Napolitano, recently presented a ten-year plan to return to prominence Carlos Tavares, the head of the entire giant Stellantis concern, to which Lancia belongs.

The economic goal of his plan is profitability, not primarily the number of cars sold. “Volumes are important, but our goals are about profitability,” Automotive News quoted him as saying.

The plan includes three models – a new generation of ypsilon in 2024, which will be hybrid and electric, a new compact crossover in 2026 and a new hatchback in 2028. Both cars will exclusively offer electric cars in accordance with the brand’s plan from 2024 only electrified cars and since 2026 only flashlight cars.

More interesting, however, is the level that the brand has set. “We have a lot of work ahead of us and a certain standard … which Mercedes-Benz is for us. I don’t mean that we want to compete with him, that would be naive, but it’s an example of what we’re looking at, “Napolitano said.

Lancia’s target market will not be the whole world, but Europe. It will initially focus on Germany and France, where fleet electrification is developing faster, and will later add other countries, including Spain, Belgium, Austria and the Nordic countries. Napolitano believes that focusing on segments that are strong in Europe will help the brand.

The cars are to be sold in about a hundred places in 60 European cities, along with other Stellantis brands. However, there should also be a strong emphasis on online sales and a great simplification of this process. “My goal is to allow customers to buy a car in three clicks,” Napolitano said.
