The Charlotte Hornets surprised Trae Young’s Atlanta Hawks in a game where LaMelo Ball took all the spotlights being the top scorer and setting a record for the franchise by Michael Jordan, on the day of this Monday, February 13.
The Hornets hit the table with final score of 144 out of 138 at the Spectrum Center. The pilot became history for his organization by totaling 30 points, 15 assists and six reboundsculminating as the main figure of the party.
His spectacular performance on the small court made him the first Hornets player to post a game with 30 or more points and at least 15 assists. It should be noted that the number of assists was the highest in his NBA career.
In a team where he shares a dressing room with Gordon Haywardthe young point guard has not lost ground as one of the main stars of the North Carolina quintet.
His performance against Atlanta overshadowed the great production of Young, who finished with 25 points, 14 assists and a pair of three-pointers in 35 minutes on the court. Despite having one of the worst records in the Eastern Conference, the Hornets beat the eighth-ranked team in the group.
In just his second season in the best basketball in the world, the youngest of the Balls has looked impressive with his particular assists on the court, becoming one of the best assistants today.
It should be noted that it is not the only mark that he achieves against the Hawks. Before the whole of Georgia he became the youngest player to reach a triple-double with 22 points, 11 assists and 12 rebounds at just 19 years and 140 dayson January 9, 2021.
In the current campaign, the point guard appears with 22.9 points per game, 8.2 assists, 6.1 boards, 40.2% shooting from the field, 1.4 steals and 35.9% shooting from long distance in a total of 31 games played.
Despite his great level in the season, his team collects one of the worst records in the East with only 16 wins and 43 losses, being penultimate in the Conference.
