Lamar Jackson to Hold Annual Florida Event

(Baltimore) Quarterback Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens has announced that he will be holding his annual Funday with LJ event in Florida while there is an outbreak of coronavirus in that state.

Jackson’s third annual event will take place Saturday and Sunday in his hometown of Pompano Beach, Florida, according to a flyer shared on his Instagram page. Social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people are currently not allowed in Pompano Beach, according to the city’s website.

The leaflet, which says “come and have fun in the sun”, advertises flag football and water slides, among other activities. It also states that adults must wear face masks and that a waiver must be signed for children to participate.

The announcement of the event comes more than a week after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said at a press conference that interactions between young people were behind the spike in confirmed cases.

In Broward County, where the event is slated, there are more than 21,000 cases of coronavirus and about 400 people have died from the virus, according to the Florida Department of Health.

There are more than 200,000 cases of coronavirus in the state and about 3,800 Florida residents have died from the new coronavirus, according to the Florida Department of Health.
