Jackson, the NFL’s most valuable player last season, completed 20 of his 25 passes and added 45 rushing yards. Last year, Jackson threw 36 touchdown passes in addition to setting a record for most rushing yards for a quarterback.

It was Kevin Stefanski’s debut as head coach of the Browns, who committed three turnovers. The Cleveland team have not started their season with a win since 2004.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield made 21 of 39 passes for gains of 189 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and an interception in the loss.

Colts 20 — Jaguars 27

Gardner Minshew threw three touchdown passes, including a 22-yard one to Keelan Cole in the fourth quarter, and the Jacksonville Jaguars surprised the Indianapolis Colts 27-20.

Minshew saw 19 of his 20 aerial attempts caught for gains of 173 yards. He joined DJ Chark, Laviska Shenault and Cole for a major.

Rookie running back James Robinson helped Minshew’s cause by amassing 90 yards, including 62 rushing.

The Jaguars ruined Philip Rivers’ debut with the Colts. Rivers had 36 of his 46 passes, including one for a touchdown, for gains of 363 yards. He was also the victim of two interceptions.

Jets 17 — Bills 27

Josh Allen orchestrated three straight streaks that led to a first half touchdown and the Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets 27-17.

John Brown caught six balls for gains of 70 yards and a touchdown. Stefon Diggs closed his first game for the Bills with eight receptions for 86 yards.

Allen had 33 of his 46 passes for 312 yards, becoming the Bills’ first quarterback to reach the 300-yard pass since Tyrod Taylor on Dec. 24, 2016.

Jets quarterback Sam Darnold completed 21 of 35 passes for 215 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and an interception. Jamison Crowder had seven catches for a total of 117 yards and a touchdown.

Seahawks 38 — Falcons 25

Russell Wilson threw four touchdown passes and the Seattle Seahawks triumphed 38-25 over the Atlanta Falcons.

Wilson saw 31 of his 35 passes taken for gains of 322 yards. He threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter and two more in the third quarter.

His most important touchdown pass came after the Falcons forced a fourth down on the Seahawks. Wilson lobbed a ball into wide receiver DK Metcalf, who beat cornerback Isaiah Oliver to give his team a 21-12 lead.

The Falcons outscored the Seahawks 506-383 in total yards. Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage all had over 100 yards for the Atlanta roster, but she couldn’t convert a single of her four attempts on the fourth down.

Raiders 34 — Panthers 30

Josh Jacobs had 93 rushing yards and three majors, helping the Las Vegas Raiders hold on to defeat the Carolina Panthers 34-30.

A six-yard run for a touchdown from Jacobs with 4:14 remaining gave the Raiders a real lead.

The Panthers had a chance to get ahead, but they gave the ball to Alex Armah – rather than all-star Christian McCaffrey – on the fourth down and he was stopped.

Derek Carr threw a touchdown pass and for a 239 win for the Raiders, which marred Matt Rhule’s debut as the Panthers head coach.

Eagles 17 — Washington 27

Peyton Barber had two rushing touchdowns and the Washington Soccer Team closed a 17-point deficit to win 27-17 over the Philadelphia Eagles.

After trailing 17-0 after two paying passes from Carson Wentz, the Washington side recovered in defense and took advantage of the opportunism in attack.

Barber gave Washington the lead with a three-yard rush in the fourth quarter.

It was Ron Rivera’s first mach as head coach of the Washington Soccer Team.

Packers 43 — Vikings 34

Aaron Rodgers chopped the Minnesota Vikings’ defense to pieces and the Green Bay Packers won 43-34.

Entering his 13th season as the Packers starting quarterback, Rodgers completed 32 of his 44 passes, including four for a major, for gains of 364 yards.

Davante Adams has been Rodgers’ prime target. Adams tied a career high and a team record with 14 catches. He had 156 yards and two touchdowns. Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard also reached the end zone.

Aaron Jones contributed offensively for the Packers with 66 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Green Bay squad recorded their highest point total against the Vikings since a 44-31 victory in October 2013.

Bears 27 — Lions 23

Mitchell Trubisky threw a perfect touchdown pass to Anthony Miller with 1:54 to go and the Chicago Bears fled with a 27-23 win over the Detroit Lions.

The Lions managed to settle down at the Bears 16-line to give themselves a chance to win, but rookie running back D’Andre Swift dropped a pass into the end zone.

Trubisky finished the game with three touchdown passes, all in the fourth quarter, and the Bears erased a 17-point deficit. He completed 20 of his 36 passes for overhead gains of 242 yards.

Matthew Stafford had 24 of his 42 aerial attempts for gains of 297 yards. In his debut with the Lions, Adrian Peterson carried the ball 14 times for a total of 93 yards.
