LaLiga boss wants to restart on June 12th

In Spain, the championship could continue on June 12th.

The Spanish football championship, which has been interrupted since mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic, is said to continue on June 12, according to La Liga President Javier Tebas. “I would like to restart on June 12th, but we have to be careful,” said Tebas, also referring to the overall situation in Spain, which is one of the worst hit countries by the pandemic.

“We all need to focus on taking health protection measures,” Tebas told Spanish Movistar on Sunday. According to the league boss, all outstanding games will take place without a spectator. There will also be professional soccer games in Spain every day after the restart. “Now that we’re not going to have fans in the stadiums, we’re going to have some innovative ideas for how the games will air,” Tebas announced.

Across the league, a total of around 2,500 people – from players to club employees – were tested for the corona virus, and there were only eight positive cases, Tebas reported. “This is good news. Infection during a game is practically impossible as we have conducted a study we published that shows that gaming is at minimal risk if we all adhere to health measures,” said Tebas.
