Labor Union Sindir Ridwan Kamil about the increase in the DKI UMP

Union laborer who are members of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) satirized the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil related to an increase of 5.1 percent or IDR 225,667 Provincial Drinking Wage (UMP) in DKI Jakarta 2022.

The President of KSPI, Said Iqbal, asked all governors in Indonesia, especially Emil, as Ridwan Kamil is familiarly called, to take a similar decision. According to Iqbal, if they do not revise the UMP, the governors can revise the City/Regency Minimum Wage (UMK) according to the request of regional heads in each province.

“We ask once again, in the name of the law, it must be above politics, so all governors in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, revise the UMK value, district/city minimum wage,” he said at an online press conference, Saturday (18/12).

“RK [Ridwan Kamil] must dare to put the law above political interests,” added Iqbal.

According to him, Emil must have the courage to realize the wishes of a number of regional heads in his region to increase the UMK. The urge to increase the UMK in West Java had previously been conveyed by, among others, the Regents of Karawang, Bekasi, Subang, Purwakarta, to the Mayor of Bekasi.

“The Regent of Karawang has recommended a 6.7 percent increase in the Karawang UMK. The Regent of Bekasi has decided to recommend 5″ [koma] the percentage increase in Bekasi UMK. Likewise the Mayor of Bekasi. Bogor,” he said.

In addition to West Java, Iqbal also conveyed the urge to increase the UMK to the Governors of Banten, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, Riau Islands, to South Kalimantan.

He urged the governors to place the law above political interests by raising UMK referring to the decision of the Constitutional Court.

“We ask the governors of West Java, Banten, Central Java, East Java, to raise the UMK. According to what, according to previous recommendations from regents and mayors in each of these provinces,” he said.

Threat of Mass Strike

Iqbal threatened that the workers’ group would go on a mass strike if the urging for an increase in the UMK was not met. The action, he said, would begin on December 22-23, and continue after the Christmas and New Year’s holidays on January 5th.

These actions will be simultaneously carried out in a number of areas and attended by hundreds of thousands to millions of workers.

“Production actions, constitutional strikes justified by the law will be carried out by hundreds of thousands and millions of workers outside DKI and Yogyakarta,” he said.
