Parents and high school students demanded a “safe back to school” when the epidemiological traffic light is green and teachers and education workers can be vaccinated against Covid-19. They stressed that “we must guarantee a safe return to classrooms for students, without putting themselves at risk, but not for grandparents and older adults who take care of them when they leave classes.”
In an interview with The Day, stated that although keeping children and adolescents at home with distance classes implied a “greater workload for parents, the priority now is the health of both students and their teachers and our own families, therefore which requires that the vaccination campaign advance further, before proposing any possible return to schools ”.
On the contents of distance education, such as the program Learn at home, they pointed out that “children do not learn much from the contents because they cannot ask about their doubts. In my case, I have a first-grade high school boy and he gets very desperate because he can’t keep up with the content, ”said a mother of a family.
They stressed that both the classes on television and those they receive online from their subject teachers “are generating enormous stress, because the boys spend more than eight hours in front of a screen and they don’t finish. There is so much pressure that they are more concerned with delivering the jobs that are asked of them than with learning ”.
