La Fraise Corp: Edible Tattoos that Bring Back Childhood Memories

Do you remember the Malabar tattoos from our childhood? It’s a bit the same, except you can lick them“, smiles Yann Segui. Holder of a bachelor’s degree in hotel and catering, he launched his start-up “La Fraise” which offers edible tattoos. “During my studies, we had to work on a project focused on innovation. We had to have a theme on cosmetics, we had no idea. Then, at a party, two friends looked for each other by sticking Malabar tattoos on each other. I told myself there was something to do about tattoos with tastes“, he says.

For several months, the 28-year-old young man thought about the major product of his company La Fraise Corp and made several trips back and forth between the south and the capital. Precious time to develop skills in a multitude of areas for this self-taught person to create ephemeral and edible flavored tattoos directly on the skin. “As soon as there is something wrong, I do everything I can to resolve it. I broke down Malabar tattoos to look at the properties and try to find an alternative with natural products. I made all my machines. I learned to do mechanical coding, computer science, chemistry and even commercial project management“, he boasts.

Resourceful, he imagines combinations of tastes in his recipes to offer surprising mixtures. “We have lemon and strawberry for flavors but I’m thinking of making cocktails with mojito or Margarita flavors“, he predicts. A breakthrough product destined to attract fans of nightclubs and bars, but also BDEs. “In two weeks, I start canvassing, I hope to be in the bars at the end of the month. I want to sell in festive places and get feedback on the tattoos to put them on the market and go to B2C and offer the product to whoever wants“, he announces.

In search of legitimacy to establish itself in the Phocaean city, La Fraise Corp stood out in the major call for Talent des Cités 2023 projects which rewards actors established in priority districts of the city for their economic viability and the impact of their activity. Winner of the “Creation” prize, Yann Segui hopes to ride this dynamic to spread his idea. “This highlights the impact, it means that what I am doing is not completely crazy. This legitimacy is pleasing and reassuring“, he rejoices. A salutary proof of recognition for the young manager who intends to leave his mark on the tattoo market.
