Kyrsten Sinema may be set to walk away as Arizona Democrats censor her

The Arizona Democratic Party censured Senator Kyrsten Sinema for refusing to vote to amend the filibuster to pass the franchise.

The Arizona Republic reported, “Members of the Arizona Democratic Party Executive Committee passed a resolution on Saturday to censure Senator Kyrsten Sinema for her vote to keep the filibuster. Saturday morning’s closed-door vote came after a flurry of anger from liberals who characterize Sinema, D-Arizona, as an obstructionist who helped slash Democrats’ chances of passing suffrage legislation. .

Sinema probably views the censorship as a political victory as she dreams of staying in power forever as the next John McCain, but a more realistic view is that Sinema is probably quitting the Democratic Party.

Senator Bernie Sanders has promised to support the main challengers for Sens. Sinema and Manchin after their refusal to change the filibuster rules to pass the vote.

The Arizona Progressives already have a challenger in mind for Sinema, and that challenger, Rep. Reuben Gallego, hasn’t ruled out running against her.

It has long been suspected that Sinema’s goal is to become independent, and the censorship sounds like a signal that a rift between Sinema and the Democrats is coming.
