Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Warn Citizens Against Traveling to Russia After Entry Denials – Xenophobia Rising

The authorities of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan recommend to their citizens refrain from traveling to Russia because they are seriously denied entry into the Russian Federation. Frustration and explosions of xenophobia began in the Russian Federation after the terrorist attack in Crocus, which happened on March 22.

In particular, the corresponding statement was posted on the officer website Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic. It is noted that many publications have appeared in the media about the pandemonium at the border and the refusal to cross it with representatives of the relevant security forces of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that, as of May 2, 2024, it had not received “signals” about cases of mass denial of entry into the Russian Federation to citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

“At the same time, the Ministry and foreign bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic are monitoring the current situation in the Russian Federation and its impact on the legal status of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who do not have compelling reasons to travel to The Russian Federation temporarily stopped traveling to its territory. ”, – said in a statement.

It is recommended to suspend the trips until additional security measures and the improved control system for access across the state border, which was incorporated into the Russian Federation after the terrorist attack at Crocus, to raise. If travel by train is required, citizens of Kyrgyzstan are advised to check in advance for any restrictions on entry into the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan did something similar report – it is recommended that citizens of the country refrain from traveling to the territory of Russia on all types of transport “unless necessary.”

As ASTRA reports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan made this statement against the background of the massive denial of access to Russia for citizens of this country.

In particular, on April 25 edition of Asia Plus reportedthat hundreds of citizens of Tajikistan have been stuck at the Sagarchin checkpoint on the border with the Orenburg region of Russia for several days now. The queue to cross the border was, according to witnesses, more than 180 cars with Tajik license plates.

According to Russian media, after the terrorist attack at Crocus, a third of the Russian regions already limited the number of areas in which migrants can work. The Kursk region was the last to implement it, where the governor banned migrants from working as taxi drivers. The local authorities made this decision reportedly based on the results of a survey on the Telegram channel. At the same time, the governor himself admitted that “there are not many migrants” in this region.

Terrorist attack at Crocus – details

On March 22, armed people opened fire in Crocus City Hall near Moscow, then set fire to the building and fled. About 140 people died. The next day, the Russian security forces announced that the suspects had been arrested, and evidence was published on social networks that these people had been tortured. For example, in one of the videos, a man in camouflage cut Saidakrami Rachabalizode’s ear with a knife. This knife was put up for auction by neo-Nazi Evgeniy Rasskazov. A photograph was also published in which another defendant, Shamsidin Fariduni, was tortured with electric shocks using a TA-57 communication device.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin condemns the use of torture to Tajiks detained on suspicion of committing a terrorist attack. In particular, at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS in Minsk, he said that the Russian security forces must comply with the norms and principles of international law, especially regarding innocent suspects, the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment.

After the terrorist attack, migrants in Russia faced a rise of xenophobia and strong deportation operations.
