A Pentagon spokesman said the redeployment of Russian troops from Kyiv indicates that Russian military leaders understand that their attempt to take the capital has failed.

He also noted that the morale of Russian soldiers is low.

“We continue to see problems with unit cohesion, problems with command and control, and problems with competent leadership,” the US military spokesman said.

The Pentagon says it has heard anecdotes about poor performance on the battlefield and overwhelmed Russian soldiers, but “it’s all at the level of rumors and anecdotes, and it’s impossible to say with certainty whether it’s only in separate parts or these are more general trends.”

However, the Pentagon spokesman believes that all these stories only confirm some of the main problems that have manifested themselves in the Russian Armed Forces.

“This is an army that does not have a non-commissioned officer corps, like in the West, so there is no effective command of small units in it, and you will not even see any initiative at the lowest level …”, – said a Pentagon spokesman.

In addition, on Thursday, British intelligence said that from 1.2 thousand to 2 thousand Russian troops in Georgia will be reorganized into three battalion tactical groups and these groups will be transferred to Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian occupation troops partially withdraw from the north of the Kiev region to Belarus.

The General Staff believes that after the combat capability of the withdrawn units is restored, they are expected to move to other areas.
