Kwasi Kwarteng ended up as Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer

British Finance Minister Kwasi Kwarteng confirms his resignation. The Prime Minister meets the press on Friday afternoon.

Kwarteng was fired after 39 days of work. He hurried home from the United States on Thursday night. On Friday he submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Liz Truss.

On Friday he published a letter to the Prime Minister, which begins with “You asked me to resign. I respected him.”
