Kudus (ANTARA) – The Kudus District Health Service (Dinkes), Central Java, noted that the implementation of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) immunization to prevent cervical cancer targeting fifth grade elementary school students or 11 year olds, by September 2023 reached 11,916 children.
“The achievement number does not meet the target of 13,075 children, considering the limited vaccine stock,” said Kudus District Health Service (DKK) Sub-Coordinator for Surveillance and Immunization Aniq Fuad in Kudus, Friday.
For the time being, he said, HPV vaccination has not been continued because he is waiting for additional deliveries of vaccine from the central government.
In the application for additional vaccine allocation to Central Java Province, it was explained that there was no additional allocation available from the center.
From the realization of 11,916 children who received the HPV vaccine, including 5,867 class V students and 6,040 class VI children.
The HPV immunization target is 13,075 children, including 6,391 class V students, the rest are class VI students. When sufficient vaccines are available, in September 2023 these activities can be completed.
“Because there is no additional allocation of HPV vaccine, we will continue with DT (Diphteria Tetanus) immunization and TD (Tetanus Diphteria) immunization which is a follow-up immunization to DT immunization,” he said.
He revealed that DT immunization is to prevent several infectious diseases, such as diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough (pertussis), while TD immunization is a follow-up immunization to DT immunization so that children are increasingly immune from these three infectious diseases.
