KSRTC to dismantle; Kerala’s first vehicle demolition center is getting ready

SumThe government has given permission to KSRTC to construct the first vehicle scrapping center in the place. Demolition center can be set up with private participation or directly. KSRTC The government issued an order giving permission to the MD. According to the directive of the central government, old vehicles will have to be dismantled from April 1.

Commercial vehicles older than 15 years and private vehicles older than 20 years should be scrapped. Check the fitness of the vehicles using a mechanized system. Those that fail this will have to be demolished.

Dismantled vehicle components will be taken up by steel companies for recycling. Finding the market is not difficult. The country’s first demolition center was inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in May 2022 in Noida. KSRTC has the land required to set up a vehicle dismantling centre.

Finding private entrepreneurs and setting up a demolition center would be beneficial. The central government announced the vehicle scrapping policy in August 2021. The aim is to discourage the use of old vehicles. Scrappers get a discount on registration and taxes when buying a new vehicle.
