Kristoffer Nordfeldt discusses upcoming European Championship qualifiers and AIK’s season struggles

Right now, Kristoffer Nordfeldt, 34, is charging for two important international matches in the European Championship qualifiers, against Estonia and Austria.

– We are aware of the situation. There is full focus on Estonia first and foremost and then we take Austria. We have a lot of faith that we can still solve it. It is up to us to do it, says the reserve goalkeeper.

At the same time, Nordfeldt is self-critical when he is asked a question about his own form.

– This season has not been positive as an AIK player or AIK supporter. No one involved in AIK is happy with how the season has turned out so far.

When asked how easy it is to let go of the AIK situation when it is now time for the national team meeting, Nordfeldt answers:

– It is clear that it is a different thing, you have to try to let it go during these ten days and then have one hundred percent at AIK again after that. But I personally care so much about AIK that it is hard not to feel part of it even if you are not there at Karlberg.

– If you play in a club like AIK, it will affect you whether you want to or not. Then it is important to sort things in the right way. We have eight games left when we get home after the Austria game here and then we will handle those games in the very best way.

What is the feeling with Henning (Berg, coach) overall since he came in?
– It has been better than it was last spring, absolutely. Then everyone is aware of the situation we are in. But we have it in our own hands and it is up to us who step out onto the field and are at Karlberg to make it take off.
