Martincová wasted the lead 2: 0 in the first set, allowed the opponent to equalize, but then she did not lose a game. In the second set, on the other hand, the 26-year-old Czech lost 0: 2, but with six successful games in a row she reached the winning end.
“It’s great. I never did well in Prague, it tied me up here and the performances were crazy. The semifinals at home are really great for me, it’s completely different than in any other tournament,” Martincová said in an interview on the court.
Martincová advanced to the fourth semifinal on the WTA circuit and will strive for the first final participation in her career. Her opponent will be the winner of the match between tournament nine Greetje Minnen from Belgium and Australian Storm Sanders.
