Kpop and Korean Culture Takes Over Le Havre Through DBT Crew and Events Kpop Le Havre Association

Published on 05/05/2023

Spearhead of the culture originating in the Land of the Morning Calm, pop music seduces a whole generation of fans who do not hesitate to adopt the outfits and choreographies of their favorite groups. A change of scenery and rhythms guaranteed! In this movement, some associations in France combine the passion for dance with the taste for a refined civilization with such particular values and subtleties. Noémie Sampic, alias Miyu, is a fervent follower of Korean culture. In 2018, she launched a message to find people from Le Havre who shared her tastes, including music. A formation of dancers is born from this first meeting under the name of DBT Crew. The Events Kpop Le Havre association was then created in 2019 with Coraline Fouquet, alias Bou.

More and more members

Since then, and despite the interruption linked to Covid, members have multiplied to cultivate the art of dancing together. Everyone can learn their own choreography, taken from those of Korean artists, to dance in groups within DBT Crew, during performances, performances or for YouTube videos. Classes are offered every week at the Simone Veil center with a dance teacher, allowing you to improve and rehearse. “Everyone is welcome, from the age of 16, the important thing is to be motivated”explique Miyu.

Other events punctuate the year, such as cooking workshops, introductions to Korean or creative workshops. The volunteers are also invited to conventions or parties during which their demonstrations create a sensation. Want to find out for yourself? Take advantage of the neighborhood party in the old center on Saturday 27 May to discover and applaud the sounds and gestures that will make you change the world.
