KPN will release an update in January for decoders that should make the TV guide faster – Image and sound – News

KPN says it will release an update in January that should make the TV guide function of its decoders faster. Previously, KPN already released a similar update, but the provider turned it back after it caused increased pressure on its network.

The release period of the software update is listed on the KPN website, noted TotalTV on. The provider says there that the firmware is already ready for use. The company reports that the firmware is deliberately not updated around the holidays and that the update must therefore be released ‘in January’.

“During the holidays, we want you to be able to use KPN TV undisturbed. That is why the software will be rolled out to KPN TV receivers in January,” the company writes. KPN does not mention a specific release date of the update on its website, but customer service employees previously mentioned January 19, TotalTV writes.

In December, KPN already made an update temporarily available to solve the TV guide problem, but the provider later reversed it. According to the company, this was because the update put too much pressure on its network, causing the provider to contend with two outages on its decoders within 24 hours. The company did not identify a cause for the increased pressure after the update.
