KPN says it has solved problems with landline internet via 4G in rural areas – IT Professional – News

KPN claims to have resolved recent internet speed issues through their Faster Internet Buitengebied service. A “fit on a server” would have solved the problems with fixed internet via 4G.

Over the past few days, KPN customers have been suffering from slow upload speeds and high pings, especially in the evening wrote Tweakers this morning. In a comment on the forum let the provider know on Monday evening that the recent update should fix the speed issues. That same evening, KPN says it will keep a close eye on the issues described. Two hours after the update was rolled out, there were no more complaints on the forum.

The issue is said to have lasted a total of about four days and specifically affected customers who use the service Faster Internet Outskirts; only in the evening did the problems occur while during the day nothing seemed to happen. Upload speeds ranging from 0.1 Mbit/s to 0.5 Mbit/s have been reported, as well as pings of 1000 or even 2000 ms.

Faster Internet Buitengebied is intended for users in rural areas who can only expect a rather slow Internet speed via DSL. A better internet connection can be offered through such connections and an additional 4G modem. This would normally give an average download and upload speed of around 50 and 10Mbit/s respectively with a ping of around 20ms, according to the user Ernst Jan Oud.
