new Chelsea defender, Kalidou Koulibaly, wear the number 26 in Chelsea. Jorginho says Koulibaly must be ready to take on the responsibility!
Number 26 at Chelsea is synonymous with John Terrya central defender who came through the academy who broke into the Blues’ first squad in 2000 until he finally parted ways with the club in 2017. After that, he played at Aston Villa for a season and then retired.
Terry is known as a formidable central defender. He made 715 appearances in all competitions with the Blues with 17 trophies won, including five times won the Premier League and won the Champions League once.

After John Terry go, no player Chelsea who dared to wear the number 26. ‘Captain, Leader, Legend’ is a nickname for Terry and is respected by every Blues player.
In the past, Terry used that number because he wanted to be next to Gianfranco Zola in the dressing room when he broke into the main squad. Zola wears number 25.
In the transfer market this summer, Chelsea recruit Kalidou Koulibaly from Naples. Koulibaly went straight to number 26!
Of, Kalidou Koulibaly had permission to John Terry to use the number. For Jorginho, what Koulibaly did must have been carefully thought out.
“Koulibaly has a big personality. I hope he wears the number well, also brings good luck,” he explained Mirror.
“The number is very important for Chelsea so hopefully he can take the responsibility and give respect to the number, he has to prove himself that he deserves to wear it.”
