Kouakou lowered MFF: “Extremely happy”

Sirius has been scoring points for Malmö to face since the Uppsala team made a comeback in the top league in the 2017 season with a total of two draws and nine wins in MFF’s favor ahead of Sunday’s match at Studenternas IP.

But now the Scanian scoring streak is broken as Sirius turned around and won for the twelfth time. Sirius’ first win against Malmö since 1973, by the way.

A somewhat surprising turn in addition as Malmö had most of the game in the first half and also started the scoring in the 18th minute.

Goal scorer: Jo Inge Berget, who received a perfectly struck corner from former Sirius player Moustafa Zeidan and scored her second Allsvenskan goal of the season with a clean wide.

Men Sirius didn’t give up despite the fact that MFF now seemed to have tightened their grip and in the 25th minute Christian Kouakou forced Malmö’s goalkeeper into a class save when Johan Dahlin steered out a ball that really oozed goals.

Just before the break, Sirius defender Marcus Mathisen also headed in to make it 1-1. A goal that was initially ruled offside but which Bojan Pandzic finally approved after a short referee conference.

And the scorer was sure:

– The immediate feeling was that I was not offside, so I was surprised when they judged it. It’s fun to see that the judges then talked to each other and came to the right decision, Mathisen told Discovery at halftime.

However, Siriusbacken did not hear how the conversation went among the judges:

– No, they didn’t want me to get close and I had already received a yellow card and didn’t want to provoke. You have to calm down a bit too.

In the second half then turned Sirius to 2–1 through Christian Kouakou, who then broke his five-game goal drought.

The Sirius striker received a deep ball from Mathisen and offered a delicious football treat when he coolly sent the ball between Malmö defender Lasse Nielsen’s legs and then via the far post and in.

The winning shooter Kouakou then beamed with joy as he summed up the match in Discovery+.

– I am extremely happy for these three points. We did it for each other and for the supporters. It was revenge for us. Now we are proving somewhere that we can measure up even to the best.
