Korņilovs sets the Latvian record in driving 4 kilometers at the European Championship track

Latvian track cyclist Vitalijs Korņilovs won the 15th place in the European Championship taking place in Bulgaria on Saturday and reached a new national record in driving 4 kilometers.

The only representative of Latvia in the European Track Cycling Championship, which takes place in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, is long-distance rider Vitalijs Kornilovs. The experienced athlete has been competing internationally for a long time, regularly participating in European championships and other UCI level competitions. This year, Vitalijs will start in the European Championship both in 4 kilometers and in a group race.

On Saturday, the 4-kilometer driving race was held. They were attended by 18 participants from 12 countries. Kornilov made the best trip of his career in this distance. Our athlete finished in 4 minutes 30, 73 seconds. This is also a new Latvian record in this distance. 15th place in Kornilov European Championship.

The Italian cyclist Jonoton Milan won, with a time of 4 minutes 6.89 seconds. Second place for Portuguese cyclist Ivo Oliveira (4 minutes 7.52 seconds). But the third meanwhile was Russian cyclist Alexander Evtuchenko (4 minutes 9.75 seconds).

On Sunday, Kornilov will compete in a group race.
