“As you know, I was recently elected first deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In this position, I have a personal assignment from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the political team,” Kornienko said.
The deputy called his tasks in office the reform of the parliament, legislative support and implementation of plans, in particular the presidential plan for the country’s transformation, the creation of better relations with the executive branch, local government and high-quality, effective, efficient work of the Ukrainian parliament.
According to him, all these tasks require full dedication and work 24/7.
“I would like to concentrate on my work in the Verkhovna Rada and the continuation of parliamentary reforms to which the party, the president and the Ukrainian people delegated me. Therefore, I decided to address the congress of the Servant of the People political party with a statement about the resignation of the head of the political party,” said Kornienko.
He noted that a new head of the political force will be elected at the next party congress. He also stressed that he remains in the “Servant of the People”.
The exact date of the party’s congress is unknown, but last week Kornienko said that it could be held on November 20th or 27th.
In November 2018, Kornienko was on Zelensky’s election team, coordinating the observers’ volunteer project.
In May 2019, he headed the campaign headquarters of the Servant of the People, and in July 2019, he became the people’s deputy from this political force. In November of the same year he was elected head of the party instead of Dmitry Razumkov, who became the speaker of the Rada.
This October Kornienko took the post of first vice speaker of parliament.
