후쿠오카 세계 수영선수권에 출전한 한국 수영의 희망 황선우가 남자 자유형 200m에서 동메달을 차지했습니다.
지난 대회에 이어 2연속 메달인데요, 박태환도 하지 못했던 한국 수영 사상 첫 대기록입니다.

남자 자유형 200m 결승 황선우는 3레인에서 힘차게 출발했습니다.
초반부터 스퍼트를 올린 황선우는 첫 50m 구간을 루마니아 포포비치에 이어 2위로 통과했습니다.
150m 구간까지 2위로 통과한 뒤 마지막 50m에서 스퍼트를 올려 포포비치까지 제쳤지만, 영국 매튜 리차드와 톰 딘의 기세가 매서웠습니다.
결국 황선우는 1분 44초 42로 리차드와 딘에 이어 3위로 터치패드를 찍으며 동메달을 차지했습니다.
[황선우/수영 국가대표 : “두 대회 연속으로 메달을 딸 수 있는 자리에 서서 너무 기분이 좋고요. 없었던 메달 동메달을 챙겨서 기분이 좋다고 생각하고 싶어요.”]
세계선수권 2연속 메달은 박태환도 해내지 못했던 기록으로 한국 선수론 처음입니다.
지난 대회 은메달보다 순위는 한 계단 내려갔지만, 오히려 기록은 0.05초 줄이며 한국신기록을 세웠습니다.
1위와 0.12초 2위와 불과 0.1초 차로 다음 대회에선 충분히 금빛레이스도 가능합니다.
200m의 기세를 몰아 황선우는 오늘 자유형 100m에 출전해 결승 진출에 도전합니다.
남자 하이다이빙 종목에선 대한민국 선수론 최초로 최병화가 출전해 꿈의 무대를 밟았습니다.
[최병화/하이다이빙 국가대표 : “저는 여기까지 오는 동안 고생을 너무 많이 했어요. 감정이 북받치네요. 경기를 안전하게 치명적인 부상 없이 끝 마치는 게 제 첫 번째 목표입니다.”]
1,2차 시기 합계 최하위인 23위에 머물렀지만, 하이다이빙 불모지에서 이뤄낸 최병화의 역사적인 도약은 박수를 받기에 충분했습니다.

World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka
Korean swimmer Hwang Sun-woo, who competed in the World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka, won a bronze medal in the men's 200m freestyle event.
This is his second consecutive medal in the championships, making it a historic achievement for Korean swimming that even Park Tae-hwan couldn't accomplish.
In the final of the men's 200m freestyle, Hwang Sun-woo started strong from lane 3. He sprinted from the beginning and passed the first 50m mark in second place, following Romania's Popovici.
After passing the 150m mark in second place, Hwang Sun-woo sprinted in the last 50m and overtook Popovici. However, the momentum of British swimmers Matthew Richards and Tom Dean was formidable.
In the end, Hwang Sun-woo touched the wall in 1 minute 44.42 seconds, securing the bronze medal behind Richards and Dean.
Hwang Sun-woo, the national representative of swimming, expressed his joy at winning a medal in two consecutive championships, saying, "I am very happy to be in a position to win medals in two consecutive championships. I want to think that I am happy to have won a medal, a bronze medal that has never been won before."
Although he dropped one place compared to the previous championships' silver medal, he set a new Korean record by reducing his time by 0.05 seconds.
With a difference of only 0.12 seconds from the first-place finisher and 0.1 seconds from the second-place finisher, Hwang Sun-woo has a good chance of winning a gold medal in the next championships.
Buoyed by his performance in the 200m freestyle, Hwang Sun-woo will compete in the men's 100m freestyle to challenge for a spot in the final.
In the men's high diving event, South Korean athlete Choi Byung-hwa made history as the first Korean to compete on the dream stage.
Although he ranked 23rd in the preliminary rounds, Choi Byung-hwa's historic leap in the challenging high diving arena was enough to receive applause.
