Korean lunar orbiter deep space land country is preparing smoothly

[충청투데이 최윤서 기자] The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as Hang Woo-yeon) announced on the 13th that the deep space ground station for deep space communication of the Korean lunar orbit is under normal construction with the goal of completion in March 2022.

SK Broadband, which is in charge of the construction of the antenna system for the deep space ground station, held a ceiling ceremony to install the largest 35m deep space antenna reflector in Korea at the Yeoju Satellite Center in Yeoju City, Gyeonggi-do.

In the future, the deep space ground station will communicate with the Korean lunar orbiter, which will operate on the moon at a distance of about 384,400 km, and check the real-time status of the lunar orbiter.

It is expected to play a key role in performing space exploration missions, such as controlling motions to enter orbit the moon and maintaining mission altitude, and receiving data observed by the moon orbiter.

Meanwhile, the’moon exploration project’, which is promoting the development of the lunar orbiter for the first time in Korea, is proceeding smoothly with the aim of launching in early August 2022, such as completing the design according to the adjusted business plan and commencing normal assembly.
