Cologne –
A lot has happened with the Cologne Sharks since last game on Friday. On Monday, the club surprisingly announced that Uwe Krupp is now replacing Mike Stewart as head coach. When Krupp was exempted from Sparta Prague a few weeks ago, the first rumors started that a return to Cologne would be possible.
But is Krupp now at the right time for the KEC? After all, the club could break the negative record of Schwenningen today with 18 losses in a row. With the change of coach, they made it clear that the KEC wanted to prevent this. It will be shown to what extent Krupp can work miracles today.

Voice of Sebastian Uvira: We got a little bit of life and were very offensive in the first third. Everyone is playing to end the season as positively as possible. I’ve been thinking a lot over the past few months and I’ve had hard times like everyone else with us. I will try to find ice hockey fun again. We now have four games left and we want to play them as best we can.
Break: The Kölner Haie appear here with a stronger self-confidence. After the first two or three minutes belonged to the grizzlys, the KEC team fought their way into the game. There followed a lively back and forth of both teams. Everyone wanted to take the lead here, but in the end it was the KEC in the 17th minute who could take the lead 1-0 through Ben Hanowski. This lead is particularly important for the sharks. This first third gives hope for another exciting game.
20 min.: There is a lot of poking in front of Wesslaus Tor. The Grizzlys want to balance, but the shark’s defense is on hand and can prevent worse.
19.min .: The sharks now dare to go forward a lot and try with a lot of pressure to go straight ahead. They don’t want to give up this leadership so easily.

17.Min .: It is difficult to say which team deserved the opening goal. Both the sharks and the grizzlys are playing pretty good hockey right now. Leadership would still be extremely important for the sharks.
13.min: There is a lot of back and forth on the ice. Both teams have some really good chances. The two goalies can also show what they can do. An exchange of blows at its finest! Only the leading goal is still missing.
11.min .: That was close! Due to a mistake by the KEC, Grizzly Spencer Macachek gets to the puck and suddenly stands in front of Wesslau. But he doesn’t hit.
8 min: Uvira again! The Haie striker fights in front of Felix Brückmann’s goal, but again the keeper stands safely in his box and does not let a shot go by.
7.Min .: There is a lot of back and forth on the ice. You can clearly see that both teams are fighting for the lead, but it won’t be really dangerous.
5th min .: That was close! After a wonderful preparatory work by Jason Akeson, who prevailed between two Wolfsburg players, he played the puck to teammate Uvira, who aimed straight at the goal. But grizzly keeper Felix Brückmann parried the shot and it is still 0: 0.
4.Min .: “We are just a carnival club” echoes from the ranks of the fans. The game seems to be a minor matter for some fans. No wonder, after all, the carnival in Cologne is not over yet.

Before the game: A banner with the words “Real Frönde stonn Zesamme!” Is held up in the Haie block. This clearly shows the fans their loyalty to the KEC.
Before the game: With a defeat today, the sharks could set the negative record of the Schwenninger Wild Wings from 2003. The last game that the KEC won was on December 26th, 2019, funnily against the Grizzlys in Wolfsburg. There they won 4-1. Perhaps they will turn things around against Wolfsburg today.
Before the game: On Friday, the grizzlies won 5-1 against Krefeld, securing important points in the battle for the coveted playoff spots. A goal that the sharks are unlikely to achieve this season.

Before the game: Loud cheers in the stands! When the team line-up was announced, Uwe Krupp was introduced as the new head coach and was greeted by the fans with much applause and cheers.
Before the game: The mood among the fans seems quite conciliatory today. During the KEC anthem, some fans lit sparklers and swayed in their seats to the beat of the music.
