Kohli will surpass Sachin’s 100 century: Shastri

Mumbai: Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri believes that Virat Kohli can also break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international centuries.

Kohli became the first batsman to complete 50 centuries in ODI cricket in the semi-finals of the World Cup. However, the total number of international centuries is only eighty. This is when he adds one century in Twenty20 cricket and 29 centuries in Test cricket. Meanwhile, Sachin has 49 centuries in ODIs and 51 centuries in Tests.

“Would anyone have thought that Sachin Tendulkar would even come close to 100 centuries? Now Kohli has 80 centuries, 50 of them in ODI cricket, unbelievable…” said Shastri.

Once players like Kohli start scoring centuries, they keep scoring. It will not be surprising if five more centuries come in the next 10 innings. Shastri opined that nothing is impossible.
