The government decided to increase electricity rates for the third quarter of 2022. Electricity tariff adjustments were made for five groups of non-subsidized customers.
The customers who experienced an increase in tariffs were groups R2 (3,500-5,500 VA), R3 (6,600 VA and above), P1 (6,600VA to 200kVA), P2 (200 kVA and above), and P3.
“Of the 13 (non-subsidized groups) adjusted for 5. Two are household groups,” said the Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rida Mulyana, at a press conference at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Central Jakarta, Monday (13/6/2022).
This adjustment was made considering changes in a number of macro indicators, one of which was the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP).
“This is effective as of July 1st. Now the old tariff. But what we have conveyed is as of July 1, 2022,” he said.
Electricity Tariff Increase Is Planned
The government has indeed given an increase signal rate electricity. Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had approved the increase in electricity rates as the government’s response to the surge in energy commodities.
