Modeste writes to the Cologne fans–
Cologne loses its biggest star and goal guarantor. After the successful medical check, Anthony Modeste (34) finally signed until 2023 in Dortmund. Then he wrote emotional words to the FC fans.
Modeste on his Instagram channel: “I knew this day would come but I didn’t know when and how… Deep down I always hoped that it would come as late as possible and why didn’t I have my career should finish in Cologne?”
Many FC fans ask themselves the same question and don’t really understand why Modeste is moving to Dortmund, where he only gets a contract for one year.

Modest explains: “Certain circumstances in football mean that you cannot control destiny.”
Then he writes about his FC love and his reasons. Modeste: “I signed for FC on the day my son was born. That will be etched in my heart forever. 7 years in which we have experienced laughter, tears, joy and sorrow. And these are circumstances that have strengthened my love for FC Köln.”

He will remain an FC supporter, Modeste assures after moving to Dortmund and then becomes specific. “As many might think, I’m not going for the money. I turned down big offers from the Gulf countries. It’s always been a dream of mine to experience the Champions League and now that opportunity has presented itself to me.”
In the end he thanks everyone – the club bosses he played under, the staff at Geißbockheim, the “teammates without whom everything I’ve done would never have been possible” and above all the fans.
