KLM flies to more European cities; masks required on all flights NOW

Airline KLM will return to more European destinations from Monday. KLM now flies daily to Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Milan, Budapest, Prague, Warsaw and Helsinki. Passengers must also wear a mask on board from 11 May. That applies to all flights, KLM announced on Monday.

The airline still flew to thirty European destinations, such as London and Paris. The number of destinations is to be expanded as soon as possible. The list of cities that has now been added was previously subject to restrictions.

In places where it is not possible to keep a sufficient distance, such as on board an aircraft, the wearing of face masks is advised “or made compulsory” according to KLM. This also applies from 11 May on board all KLM aircraft. In principle, passengers must provide their own face masks.

For the time being, the obligation to wear a mouth mask applies until August 31. Travelers should wear it as soon as they board.

Since February, KLM had to cancel more flights due to the corona virus. The summer season started in April in aviation. Due to all restrictions, the company started this summer season with a severely stripped-down timetable.

In a normal April month, KLM would fly to some seventy intercontinental destinations and more than ninety cities within Europe. Now these were 25 intercontinental and 32 European destinations. Those numbers will be increased as soon as possible.

According to KLM, about 15 percent of the usual flights will be carried out in May. Many intercontinental destinations do fly, but only with freight and not with passengers on board.

Since the end of April, KLM has even put freight on passenger seats on some flights, which increases freight capacity, because the demand for the transport of packages, such as medical supplies, is very high.
