KLM’s new chairman of the board will be either Pieter Bootsma, who currently works at Air France-KLM, or the current top woman of NS, Marjan Rintel. That writes The Telegraph and is confirmed to the NOS by a source involved in the process.
The supervisory board is voting today on the succession of the current chairman of the supervisory board Pieter Elbers and is divided. The CEO of Air France-KLM, Ben Smith, has a preference for Bootsma. There would be a preference for Rintel from the Dutch government, partly because the top of KLM now consists entirely of men.
KLM does not want to respond to the message. Pieter Elbers is officially the highest boss at KLM until next May. In January, the supervisory board announced that Elbers will not receive a third term. “After careful consultation, that decision was made and I will not give any further explanation or other speculation,” Elbers said in February.
