Klaus came to Národní with a veil put “halfway”. He considers it a symbol

Klaus described the past 31 years, especially the first part, as an “ideal period”. According to him, the current phase is sad.

“We are witnessing new intimidation and insecurity of people, censorship, fear and mutual suspicion are spreading,” said Klaus, according to whom current developments are “a step towards the past”.

The veil is just a symbol

While many politicians, including current head of state Milos Zeman, are urging the public to take action to fight the epidemic and criticize those who violate it, former President Klaus takes the opposite approach. He describes the restriction as a dictation and even at the peak of the second wave, when the daily number of deaths with coronavirus was around 200 per day, he questioned it and publicly declared that he did not wear a veil.

On Tuesday, he came with a veil under his chin. “I have it halfway through,” Klaus said, adding that “it is almost impossible for us to accept all the chaotic government orders and bans without discussion.”

“Only people who are afraid of freedom can do that,” Klaus added, according to whom the veil is a symbol and he himself does not believe that it has such a huge effect.

“It’s nonsense to be locked up in homes, that’s a terribly stupid policy,” Klaus added.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO), Deputy Prime Minister Jan Hamáček (ČSSD) and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Radek Vondráček (ANO) also arrived on Národní třída.

The current president, Miloš Zeman, omits the celebrations on November 17. According to a spokesman for the Castle, he only remembers them in private with a “silent memory”.
