The Carinthians prevailed in the 25th round of the top game at the fifth in the table forward Steyr with 2: 1 (2: 1) and are now one point ahead of the last weakening SV Ried. The Upper Austrians lost 1-3 on Friday at home in the Derby Blau Weiss Linz.
Kevin Brandstätter gave the home team a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Even before the break, the guests from Klagenfurt managed to turn things around with Oliver Markoutz (29th) and with a remarkable volley from just outside the penalty area by Patrick Greil (45th). There were no more hits in the second half.
There are no relegations this year due to the Corona interruption, but there are promotions to the Bundesliga. And then the duel between Austria from Klagenfurt and Ried is getting worse. In the next round, Klagenfurt hosts FC Juniors OÖ, Ried plays in Steyr. The next club entitled to promotion, Wacker Innsbruck, is already twelve points behind with five outstanding rounds.
