Kirilenko re-elected President of the Russian Basketball Federation

The vote took place on Thursday at the RBF’s regular election conference. Cyrilenko’s competitor in the election was sports functionary Eduard Sandler, who earned the support of 16 members. In turn, 104 of the RBF members present voted for Kirilenko.

Andrei Kirillenko, a bronze medalist at the London Olympics, ended his career in June 2015 and was elected President of the RBF in August. A year later, in August 2016, Kirilenko was re-elected to this position for four years.

The striker spent most of his career with the National Basketball Association (NBA), going on the field for 13 seasons. The basketball player once earned a place in the All-Star Game, and during his career was considered one of the best players in the league in defense.

Representing the Russian basketball team, Kirilenko won the gold medal of the 2007 European Championship, as well as was recognized as the most valuable player in the tournament. The Russian representative has also won the continental championship bronze medals, but in the Moscow CSKA he was recognized as the most valuable player of the ULEB Euroleague in 2011/2012. during the season.
