Kioxia CD8P-series achieves sequential read and write speeds of up to 12,000 and 5,500MB/s respectively, Kioxia writes in a press release. The random read and write speeds are 2,000,000 and 400,000 iops on 4kB files. According to Kioxia, variants will be available from 1.60 to 30.72TB in U.2 and E3.S formats. The SSDs are mainly intended for large data centers and hyperscalers, and offer various options for data protection and protection against data loss in the event of a power failure.

The CD8P series also features Kioxia’s proprietary controller, firmware and 112-layer BiCS5 TLC nand memory. The SSDs will be available as CD8P-V and CD8P-R variants, which are optimized for mixed workloads and read-intensive applications, respectively. The CD8P-V series will be available in a maximum capacity of 12.8TB.

Kioxia first demonstrated the data center SSDs at the Flash Memory Summit in California. However, the manufacturer does not share concrete release dates for the SSDs, although the chipmaker says it already supplies samples to major customers. The chipmaker does not mention suggested retail prices.
