Mandatory opening

One of the subsidies that the king could apply for is that opening up is compulsory for almost the entire year. But it is not yet known whether the king chooses to do so.

The annual closure of Het Loo for several months has been discussed for several years. Many conservationists and wildlife advocates disagree with the annual shutdown, saying the king hunts with guests in the area in the fall. Willem-Alexander clarified that the royal family no longer holds hunting parties since the abolition of the driving hunt in 2001. “One man or woman goes hunting accompanied,” said the king.
