The Government Information Service announced on Saturday that the princess had been tested due to mild cold complaints and the result turned out to be positive. Since then, the 83-year-old princess has been in isolation at her Drakensteyn estate in Lage Vuursche.
“She had a bit of a cold and thought it was because of the air conditioning in the tropics,” said Willem-Alexander. Shortly before the positive test result, Princess Beatrix had returned from a working visit to Curaçao. There she met groups of children and face masks were not worn everywhere. During that working visit, the princess said that she has already had her booster shot.
